So we always have to have the people that insults, bitches (excuse me for my language) and cries about the updates? Can't you people just say thank you maturaly? Seriously, this update was decent, the tonic is fun and the skill nerf is more for the GvG/HA area.

I must say that this update is an alright update, but it's still lacking some treatment to other things.

I'm glad to see the nerf to EDex and Bloodspike though. Observe was at the peak of lameness, for me at least.

These are my thoughts. Anet could do quite a bit more but they just aren't going to make things great again without a complete overhaul of half the game. Even if they did do that PvP and high end PvE will never be great again because it's playerbase has stagnated and devolved. Balance is the probably close to best I can remember since nightfall release, but the game is never going to return to the greatness it was pre nightfall. At best we can wish for small improvements every once in a while and hope GW2 can start with a fresh slate and revitalize things.

The main thing they are complaining about this nerf is for the E/As because they cant perma form without consumables.

it mostly leads back to the prot monk. the ed bars get eaten up by prot spirit but the monk cant spam it like the ranger can, target change = gg. as for the blood stuff, again, life steal bypasses the prot. once again, wtb old xinraes wep? prot keeps balance. look at the skills they use for balance benchmarks, rof, rc, ps. i think this is a good update, and i think it came at a good time. i like to see a shakeup in the rankings. i enjoy that. new teams got maybe to ranks they shouldnt have, but then the teams that are good need to work back to the top. they have to strengthen their team work and tactics. i like to see the little builds worked in before the big ones. then teams have to think a little bit before they move on to the next FotM build. it if was up to me, id have weekly changes to skills bringing a cycle of skills through.

This is completely wrong. Stop talking about things you do not know about.

First off it is easy to send messages to someone accusing them of scamming before /report.

Second off, I can guarantee they do not review evey report. It appears that multiple reporting over a short period is perceived as validity of reporting when it may be nothing more than organized reporting. I have seen people get banned mid pvp match because of organized reporting of the other team. Now we are talking about clearly biased people (opponents) and how they are getting an distinct in-game advantage due to the report feature.

Anyone that says "Anet reviews all reports" or "Anet will ban the abusers" is talking about something they do not know. All of my personal empirical experience and the experience of all the people I play with says that Anet does not review every report and in fact reviews very few reports.

An 'easy to use' report system creates a lot of reports, which all have to be filtered through. Honestly the part of me that has done moderation cringes when I think about all of the reports that are being filed. There is no way their small staff can handle all of them even giving a quick glance. What's worse about this system, is that when people receive punishments from it, it only encourages the accusers to make further reports. So even if the game gets improved, one could not perceive this by looking at the numer of reports.

This was a very bad balance update.
Hire me with half of is salary and ill balance twice as better, wich is going to be like, 8 skills a MONTH? 30 days for this?

I was surely hoping for much much more, since its a MONTLY update.

lol at all the QQing. Keep the updates coming. The only people needed in the game are those that enjoy playing the game. Lets balance the QQers right out of it.

Go Lindsey.

just because the changes implimented were good doesn't mean it's a satisfactory update. it's like doing a project, doing the first page perfect and then not even bothering to do the rest of the project.

This update lacked substance.

We're really sorry about this error.
This isn't directed at you Regina, but I can't grasp how two simultaneous updates have contained changes that weren't meant to be live for weeks.

1) The increased faction gain from Kurzick and Luxon blessing's(was as we know now,3 weeks early)
2) -5% HSR on the Essence(a week early of the build it was supposed to be in)

I don't know (and won't speak for anyone else) what is going on at ArenaNet,but it worries me that the game I play for most of my waking hours (on days off)over two years is taking this somewhat careless route

I for one could not care less about the skill update or the EoC being knocked down 5%. My question is what happened to this in the update? "Monday, October 27th 2008: Treasure Hunter and Wisdom title tracks will be made account-wide in the upcoming title balance build".(can be found here)
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:...urdock/Journal
This is what i was looking forward to.
maybe in the next update.
Maybe I am just not reading this correctly...I don't know. I realize it says "upcoming title balance build", (title being the key word here) and that may be were I misunderstood the whole thing. Being as there were no "title" balances in the update, But for some reason, I truly did expect it with yesterdays update.
Not complaining, just curious.

I think the reason this is so difficult for you to grasp is that you don't have any insight into how the source code for GW works. The code that the Live Team has been preparing is completely integrated into the game. It's extremely difficult to do a build and not have a tiny bit slip out when content is integrated into the source code. There are no check boxes for "Goes Live" and "Doesn't Go Live". It's not modular. This means that the team has to go through the game's entire source code, looking for every single change that they've made, look for what they don't want to go live, and take it out. It's not just one file involved, either. It's a huge number of changes in many, many different files.

Here's what Linsey told me:

"It's like if you were baking a carrot cake, and just as you were getting ready to put it into the oven, you are told that you need to take out all the raisins. You can spend hours picking out dozens of raisins but one or two just might get through. Except the carrot cake is like the size of a man.

And with a build of this magnitude, there are just too many different things to remember and pick out."

So things will occasionally slip out.

So please, don't be too hard on them for missing one or two raisins.

Right, because the database is just that bad that the "25%" element on Essence of Celerity is hardcoded 30 times over in the source code.
That just doesn't make sense. Either the Guild Wars source code is incredibly terrible and has absolutely 0 data abstraction or Regina has no clue what she is talking about.

I don't even care about PvE or Essence of Celerity, but I do care about Community Managers giving bad excuses.

Edited to save space :P. Food is my weakness so explaining it like cake was coincidentally a good idea (kudos to Linsey)

Thank you for the reply

If Regina didn't have that smiley on the end, I'd believe she was being a complete GO RED ENGINE.

I do have to ask... who puts raisins in carrot cake?

OnTopic: The update didn't do much for me except provide more QQ entertainment to last until next week. I had just gotten sick of using Blood Magic on my Necromancer, so the change on Vampiric Spirit may have meant something...

You guys are dumb.

What Regina means is;

They code all the changes, then remove them after testing. When they put through another update (while saving the removed ones for later) sometimes things stay in the code because they either forgot they were there, or they missed them.

What is hard to understand about that?

What's hard to understand is why undocumented changes would be there in the first place. "I changed this for debugging - it lets you type /win to automatically win a match or /vod to bring a match to VoD immediately. I'll remember to change it back later." ...

Well yeah, I understand what you mean lutz. The way I see it, Regina explained it perfectly, the problem is how the programmers could forget things...

But then, if they were meant to be part of the BIGGEST UPDATE EVAR OMG then I can see how they might have overlooked some minor changes.

This means they don't document every change they do, and they sometimes miss things. Missed things = exploits.
